Thank you for your interest in Moses Brown School.

Selecting a school for your child can be a complex and emotional experience. The very fact of your visiting this website demonstrates that you place a high value on education, that you see it as one of the most important factors in shaping a young person’s intellect, outlook and capacity for life-long fulfillment.

At Moses Brown, we believe the same thing. Our programs – as relevant and engaging today as they were when Moses Brown founded the school in 1784 – help nurture in students the ability to live and lead in the 21st century.

Moses Brown is a Friends school. Our Quaker mission and traditions provide a model for education that supports the development of the whole child, and nurtures his or her inner promise or potential. Over the past two centuries, students from many different backgrounds have benefitted from and contributed to our unique approach to education.

One of the defining characteristics of the school is excellent teaching. Our faculty emphasize the process of learning (critical thinking, problem-solving, analysis and teamwork) as much as its content; our curriculum prepares students for a globally-interconnected world; and Friends values impart an actively ethical mindset that prepares students to do both well and good in the world.

As you explore this website, I hope you will take a few minutes to visit our Admissions pages and hear from members of our community through our school video, Place of Possibilities. I would encourage you to explore our academic, athletic, artistic and Friends education programs, found under School Life. To gain some impression of the long-term impact of a Moses Brown education, hear from some graduates on the Alumni pages. And please feel free to drop into a community discussion on our Facebook page or review additional videos on our You Tube channel.

You can learn a bit more about me by exploring this web page, where I have posted examples of my writing, speaking and, in one case, my (feeble) acting. I use a variety of media to communicate with the MB community about my values as an educator and my specific vision for Moses Brown.

The best way to get to know a school and determine whether the fit is right for your family is to visit. When you have exhausted the resources found here, I hope that you will accept my invitation to tour our campus, ask questions, and learn more about the exciting programs and people at Moses Brown School.

Best,
