2021 MB Boys’ Soccer Awarded National Academic Award

Last year’s Boys’ Soccer team was awarded the United Soccer Coaches High School Team Academic Award. MB is one of just 118 boys’ programs across the country to be recognized.

Winners are celebrated for exemplary performance in the classroom for a full academic year. United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of high school boy and girl soccer teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies.

To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player’s GPA, then dividing by the number of players.

“Learning to balance the demands of academics with a challenging schedule of practices and games by planning ahead is a skill Coach Eric Aaronian considers as important as passing or corner kicks,” says Debbie Phipps, Associate Head of School for Academics. “His players carry this learning forward in their years as scholar-athletes.”
