Though her work as choreographer for six Moses Brown Theatre productions brought her to MB before, Lea D’Arminio is now at the school as a full-time upper school math instructor as well as all-school movement teacher. This fall, she has very literally been everywhere on campus (inside and outside), and her boundless energy and effervescent presence have brought much joy and motion to all varieties of classes in every division.

November 14 was the Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day, and for the second time Moses Brown took part with many other schools across the country. This year the entire school was represented with many students from middle and upper school participating, as well as teachers, staff, and some parents.
Congratulations to Moses Brown School alumnus Gabe Amo ’05, who was elected on November 7, 2023 to represent the first congressional district in Rhode Island. He is a native of Pawtucket. After graduating from Moses Brown, Gabe went on to graduate from Wheaton College in Norton, MA, where he majored in political science, and went on to many more academic successes.
November 8 is National Letter of Intent signing day. MB Athletics held a ceremony attended by family, friends and coaches for Alice Handy, Keilly Quezada, Hannah West, and Jordan Mowad. The National Letter of Intent is a binding agreement between a prospective student-athlete and a college or university.
On November 7, 2023 Moses Brown inducted eleven members of the senior class to the Cum Laude Society.
Moses Brown is in its 93rd year as a member of the Cum Laude Society. It's mission: to recognize academic achievement in secondary schools for the purpose of promoting excellence, justice, and honor.
The Moses Brown Alumni Association and friends joined together to kick off Homecoming weekend on Thursday, October 19 at the annual Fall Alumni Awards Reception.
On October 19 - 21, Moses Brown School hosted current and prospective families and alumni for an historic EXPO weekend. This annual celebration exemplified our commitment to one of Moses Brown’s core Quaker values: Community. Expo provides a special opportunity for past, present, and future members of the MB community to connect and enjoy this shared experience. In social studies, first grade has been discussing the different roles people have in communities. The class also considered less visible members of a community, such as people at Moses Brown who support the school but don’t teach or interact with classrooms regularly. As a way to branch out and meet some of these people at MB, they invited a collection of them to visit!
Congratulations to four Moses Brown seniors Ella N., Reina P., Anna C., and Michael M. for being named Semifinalists in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. Congratulations also to the five seniors who were recognized this fall as Commended Students by the National Merit organization, including Thomas A., Valerie Z., Novia J., Phoebe K., and Raj G.. Additionally, we are very proud of senior Lida H. for being honored by the College Board as a National African American Recognition Program Scholar.
Lower school had the great pleasure of hosting Brooklyn-based illustrator and author Tad Hills this Wednesday. Tad is best known as the creator of his Rocket Books featuring a dog who helps kids learn to read and write, such as the New York Times bestseller R is for Rocket.
Upper school science teacher Liz MacLauchlan has co-written the article "An Arts-Integrated Approach to Teaching Engineering" which explores the incorporation of arts into STEM education and how it helps to bolster "students’ creativity, cognitive development, and content knowledge."
Congratulations to Moses Brown’s Girls’ and Boys’ 2022-23 varsity soccer teams for being recognized by the United Soccer Coaches organization with Team Academic Awards. These awards recognize exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2022-23 academic year.
King B. "Doc" Odell, Jr. , a highly respected and revered member of the Moses Brown School community, passed away on September 26, 2023. Doc was a teacher, advisor, mentor, coach, colleague, friend and confidant to thousands of students, faculty, staff and parents alike.
Moses Brown's upper school was treated to a joyful, uplifting, and interactive performance by the Orquesta Revelacion Maranatha, a Christian merengue orchestra from La Romana, Dominican Republic.
