Connecting with Nature and Each Other during Middle School Team Trips

During the first full week of school, our middle school went on the annual Team Trips which spanned three days (and two nights) in a rural location in different parts of New England: one in Massachusetts, two in Connecticut, and one in New Hampshire. The trips included many planned activities for exploring nature, as well as team building and learning more about others, and ourselves.

Each year, the trips leave students with lasting memories. See additional photos and read some students' reflections here:

Sixth grader Thea said that she loved team trips “because I got to bond with my friends.”

Seventh grader Ella agreed that time with friends was her favorite part, and she particularly cherished her time with her cabin mates right before sleep time each night. “We did so many fun things before we went to bed each night,” like sharing stories or playing games.

Joey, in 8th grade, loved “when we all went canoeing at the lake. It was really fun because we all went through challenges, like people fell out of their boats, but they got back in” and had a great day anyway.

Evelyn who is in 6th grade also enjoyed the activities, such as climbing in the alpine tower or going on the giant swing.

Amare, who is in 5th grade, really enjoyed time at Nature’s Classroom. “The people there are so nice, they treat you like friends, and I had a really great time there,” he said.
