Meet the 2026 MBAA Alumni Award Recipients

The Moses Brown Alumni Association is proud to announce the winners of the 2026 Alumni Awards:

The 25th Reunion Achievement Award

Since 1966, the Moses Brown Alumni Association has presented the Achievement Award to a member of the 25th Reunion Class in recognition of professional excellence and outstanding service to the community. 

Andrew Haspel Silver ’01

Andrew  is a global operations executive who currently leads operations for DEPT, an  independent creative and digital strategy agency, where he focuses on driving global expansion and strengthening U.S. operations.

Andrew previously served as Global Head of Operations at Huge. Earlier in his career, Andrew was an Emmy Award winner for NBC Sports’ broadcast of the 2008 Beijing Games, and led digital initiatives for USA Swimming.

 

 

 

 

The Distinguished Alum Award

The Distinguished Alum Award recognizes an alum for significant, long-term success in personal and professional achievements, who has made outstanding contributions to their profession and has rendered distinguished service to the public welfare, thus honoring Moses Brown School.

Deborah Wang ’80 

Deborah is an award-winning radio and television journalist with a career spanning nearly four decades. Currently a contributing editor at KUOW Public Radio in Seattle, she was  previously National Public Radio’s Asia Correspondent. She has  lived in Saudi Arabia to cover the Persian Gulf War and in Beijing and Hong Kong. Deborah established ABC News’ first bureau in Seattle, and for CNN International was the host of IN Close, an Emmy Award–winning  program. Deborah was a  recipient of the Rosalynn Carter Mental Health Journalism Fellowship the Alfred I. DuPont Silver Baton for team coverage of the Gulf War; the Overseas Press Club's Lowell Thomas Award and a Gracie Award from the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (for reporting on adolescents and mental health.) Deborah earned her B.A. in history from Wesleyan University.

 

 

Karin Morse ’79 Service to Alma Mater Award

The Karin Morse ’79 Service to Alma Mater Award recognizes an alum for outstanding service to Moses Brown School. This person’s voluntary contributions have been long term, extend beyond the work of most volunteers, and speak to MB’s proud tradition of service to community.

John T.  Barrett Jr. ’63

As a three-term member of the Board of Trustees, Friend, reunion leader, and parent of an alumnus, John has demonstrated a strong commitment to Moses Brown and its Quaker values and has frequently gone above and beyond to fulfill the needs of the School. During his time on the Board, he made insightful contributions to  the Buildings and Grounds, Budget and Finance, Investment Committee, and the Campaign Steering Committee. He remains actively engaged as a member of the Board’s Investment Committee and Reach, Reputation & Philanthropy Task Force. 

 

The 25th Reunion Achievement Award and the Karin Morse ’79 Service to Alma Mater Award will be presented during Alumni Weekend + Reunion on May 1-2, 2026. The Distinguished Alum Award will be presented during Homecoming & Expo Weekend on October 15-17, 2026.
