Middle school Latin classes wrapped up the month of November 2025 with an exceptionally busy and hands-on week, showcasing the diverse skills and creativity of its students across all four levels. Bringing Mythology to Life

The Latin 1 students immersed themselves in the world of mythology. Each student researched and presented on a Graeco-Roman god or goddess, culminating in the creation of a unique, creative object directly associated with their assigned deity. The project helped students visualize and understand the complex relationships and attributes of the classical pantheon.

A Taste of Ancient Rome

Students in Latin 2 delved into the culinary traditions of ancient Rome. Their research focused on historical Roman food, which they used to design an authentic, multi-course Roman dinner menu. The unit concluded with an in-class banquet, offering students a literal taste of their studies.

Political Pundits of the Republic

The Latin 3 class experienced the high stakes of Roman politics firsthand. Students participated in a dynamic electoral competition set during the turbulent Roman Republic. The competition required them to write and perform persuasive political speeches and design their own electoral inscriptions, providing practical insight into the mechanics of ancient democracy and rhetoric.

Legends of the Legion

Finally, Latin 4 students tackled the military history of the Roman Republic. Their assignment involved extensive research into legendary battles from the time period. Each presentation was tasked with including a "creative aspect" designed to help classmates understand the strategic and cultural significance of the battles.
