Moses Brown School is excited to announce the completion and reopening of the newly renovated indoor track within the Waughtel-Howe Field House. As of Wednesday, April 9, our student-athletes have access to the state-of-the-art track surface, made possible by generous philanthropic gifts the school received earlier this year.

The renovation includes a complete resurfacing with a high-quality Herculan flooring system. This advanced material features a thicker pad designed for superior shock absorption, minimizing the risk of injury and enhancing athlete comfort. The top layer is finished with rubber granules, providing exceptional traction that will allow our students to fully utilize the unique banked curves of the track. This feature continues to distinguish the Waughtel-Howe Field House as a premier indoor athletic facility in the Northeast.

This project is part of a larger initiative made possible by deeply appreciated philanthropic gifts. In addition to the now-completed indoor track, these funds also supported the revitalization of the multi-use courts within the Field House. These upgrades provide our students with enhanced playing surfaces that offer improved safety and performance.

"The new surface is fantastic, and our track team was thrilled to be the first to use it. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity that has allowed us to provide our students with these exceptional facilities."

The Waughtel-Howe Field House has a long history of providing cutting-edge athletic facilities for Moses Brown students. From pioneering the installation of AstroTurf in 1966 to the expansion in 2000 that added strength training and medical facilities, the Field House has consistently evolved to meet the needs of our community. These latest upgrades ensure that it will continue to be a vital hub for athletics, wellness, and community engagement for years to come.
