As her senior project in 2023, Lily Larson painted her "Land Acknowledgement Mural" on a wall of MB's Rustin Center for Peace and Belonging. In this photo, in front of the mural, she holds a small collection of books her mother Jocelyn collected and donated to MB, each featuring stories about Native Americans. The books are now a permanent part of the library in the Rustin Center and available for students to read. They are a good pairing with the mural, which Lily created with the intention of reminding visitors that though Moses Brown School has flourished as a Quaker school since 1784, the land on which it’s built once belonged to the Narragansett people who inhabited most of what is now Rhode Island, as she notes in her description of the piece.
Lily has completed her first year at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI).
