The Moses Brown Scholarship for Academic Excellence and Leadership

The Moses Brown Scholarship for Academic Excellence and Leadership, the School's first merit-based scholarship, seeks students motivated by intellectual curiosity and a collaborative spirit that will spark deep engagement with their peers through inquiry and reflection. This prestigious award provides four-year scholarships annually to two incoming ninth-grade students demonstrating outstanding academic achievement and the potential to lead with purpose.

Who is a Moses Brown Scholar?

We are seeking students whose curiosity fuels a clear sense of purpose. The selection process is focused on identifying a strong combination of academic talent and positive leadership attributes that will inspire others.

A Moses Brown Scholar is a student who:

  • Demonstrates outstanding academic drive and intellectual curiosity
  • Leads with inquiry, reflection, and a desire to engage their community
  • Is passionate about using their learning to make a positive impact on the world
  • Embodies the Quaker values of integrity, service, and purpose

Eligibility

Both applicants for admission to ninth-grade and current Moses Brown eighth-grade students are eligible to apply.  Recipients of the scholarship must remain enrolled and in good academic standing at MB to receive the annual scholarship installments. The deadline to submit the scholarship application is December 31, 2025.

Amount

Two recipients will be awarded $25,000 annually for four years, totaling $100,000 each.

The deadline to submit the scholarship application for the 2026-27 school year was December 31, 2025. 
Scholarship applications for the 2027-28 school year will open in September 2026.
