Kindergarten and Upper Schoolers Celebrate the Lunar New Year

As a way of celebrating the Lunar New Year this past Sunday, Moses Brown’s Kindergarten joined with upper school Mandarin students yesterday for a Dragon Parade on campus. Spring Festival, which is celebrated by billions of people around the world, is a two-week series of celebrations to mark the new year, and this time marks the transition from the Year of the Tiger to the Year of the Rabbit. A symbolic astrological animal is associated with each annual cycle of the moon. The holiday is observed in different ways in different places.

As Director of Friends Education Jen McFadden shared in a note to staff, faculty and students in celebration of the Lunar New Year: “May our joyful light and noise drive away misfortune and illuminate the best in us – and may this Year of the Rabbit bring kindness, patience, and perseverance to all!”
