MB EXPO sports roundup
MB teams had a beautiful day for competition and large crowds to cheer them on.
For Field Hockey, it was a hard-fought effort but unfortunately, they came up short in the 2-1 loss to rival East Greenwich. Virginia S. scored the lone goal with the assist from Lily P., Ava P. (sister to former MB standout Asia and current Providence College starting keeper) recorded 3 saves. Division 1 playoffs begin Monday the 25th.
The Varsity Girls’ Soccer matchup vs. Lincoln High School ended in a scoreless tie. Goalkeeper Elise K. ’25 and MB’s stalwart defense supported by marking backs all played consistently well. The squad’s standout midfielders and amazingly talented forwards had several opportunities, including hitting the crossbar multiple times and a few skirmishes inside the 6’ that did not materialize into goals. MB’s varsity team has had several starters unable to start due to injury who hope to make it back to the pitch soon. The Quakers (9-2-3) are ranked second in Division 2.
Boys’ Varsity Soccer held off a strong second half by Cumberland to take a 3-2 victory. The BVS team got off to a quick start with Henry K. scoring off a direct kick in the fourth minute. MB added two more before halftime on goals by Thure F. (assisted by Jae D.) and Peter B.
