“MB is a place for maturing, learning, having fun, and personal growth”

Moses Brown traditionally opens each school year with Convocation – a coming together on the first Friday of classes with our entire school community to celebrate the beginning of a new year. The gathering takes place on our Front Circle, highlighted by student speeches.

We are pleased to share the insightful remarks shared by 12th grader Zane Z.:

“I hope all the students and faculty gathered here today had a fantastic summer and are now ready for an equally fantastic school year. I’m so excited to have this opportunity to speak here in front of the entire school. Throughout my 13 years of attending Moses Brown, convocation has always stuck out to me. I remember standing here in the front circle and watching everyone deliver their speeches over the years and wondering if one day I’d be able to deliver one of my own. There are very few times throughout the year where we are all able to gather as a community, but convocation is especially unique. We are all surrounded by new faces, future friends, and teammates. Some of the people around you today may even be with you for life.

We have all come back from the summer differently than when we entered it. But the one thing we all have in common is we have entered the school year with the opportunity for change. That’s what I love so much about Moses Brown. There are so many great opportunities for all of us students at this school. If you put your mind to something and work hard you can achieve so many of your goals. We have amazing faculty and a student body that we can utilize to better ourselves. I encourage you all to use this new year to its fullest, and in our first somewhat normal year in what feels like a very long time, to go out and achieve something. MB is a place for maturing, learning, having fun, and personal growth. Let’s make sure that we use this year to better ourselves and ensure our school is a safe place for everyone. Thank you all for listening and thank you for what I know will be a great year.”
