MB Welcomes New Friends Education Director

Moses Brown is pleased to share that Barbara von Salis has joined us this year as our interim Director of Friends Education.

Many in our community are beginning to work with Barbara in class or in Friends education. Barbara comes to MB from the Mary McDowell Friends School in Brooklyn, where she taught History, Quaker History and Practices, as well as Biology and Chemistry. Barbara also served as an advisor, was the faculty sponsor for the school’s Quaker Life Committee, and assistant coach of the boys’ varsity basketball and soccer teams; she helped plan and host the 2017 Quaker Youth Leadership Conference there last year. She is an alumna and current Board member for the Brooklyn Friends School, a member of Brooklyn Monthly Meeting, and a member of the Friends General Conference Central Committee. Barbara has a BA in History (with a minor in Medieval Studies) from Smith College and a master’s in Adolescent Social Studies Education from Hunter College. What impressed the search committee most about Barbara is the way she has built connections among the communities she inhabits. Barbara is excited to join MB this year and we are pleased to have her here.

Please join us in welcoming Barbara von Salis to the Moses Brown community.
