At Moses Brown, we believe in bringing the world to our classrooms and our classrooms to the world. MB TRIPs – the Travel, Research & Immersion Programs – will make journeying and discovery an important part of learning throughout our school. Our long-term goal – and the focus of a significant fundraising effort currently underway – is to make such travel accessible to all students, regardless of their financial circumstances.

This program is designed to pique student interest in all three divisions. Lower school students build self-reliance skills by roughing it in the White Mountains, while middle school students apply lessons from their science classrooms to hands-on fieldwork in Yellowstone National Park. Upper school students serve others in the Dominican Republic and in Providence, and they get off the grid in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Other trips, such as a springtime tour of Spain, and the War Memorial Tour of Washington D.C., enhance academic courses and help build a shared passion for learning. Check out these trips and more by reviewing the information below.

  • Yellowstone National Park Summer Trip – Montana | June 20 – 29, 2017

This summer Moses Brown is again sponsoring a trip to the Greater Yellowstone Basin and Yellowstone National Park. Over 50 MB students have had an outstanding experience on this trip over four recent summers and we are thrilled to offer the trip again. Our main goal for taking this trip is to get kids out of the classroom to become “citizen scientists” and to connect what they have studied in English and Science classes to the real world as they help conduct a field study with the Park Rangers, The Nature Conservancy and US Fish and Wildlife in and around the park. We will be traveling with an organization called the Ecology Project International, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing place-based, ecological education partnerships between local experts and school students to address critical conservation issues.

  • Summer Theater Trip – New York, NY | June 12 – 15, 2017

The goal of this trip is to expose Moses Brown students to a wide variety of performing arts in the undisputed mecca for performing arts in the United States – New York City. The idea is to “blitz” participants with as much as this amazing cultural location will allow in four days, and three nights. This TRIP is not for the casual theater-goer or for students who want to say they’ve seen the “hottest show” on Broadway. This trip is for high school students who want to immerse themselves in the stressful and exciting world of live performance.

In order to be ready to dive into the cross-cultural exchange once we arrive, in the months leading up to the trip, adult leaders will facilitate correspondence between the Moses Brown students and fellow high school students in Elewana’s program in Amagoro, Kenya. Through letters and other activities, the teenagers will begin to develop an appreciation for their varied cultures and worldviews.
