Is financial aid available for MB TRIPs?
Yes. At Moses Brown, we believe in bringing the world to our classrooms and our classrooms to the world. MB TRIPs – the Travel, Research & Immersion Programs – makes journeying and discovery an important part of learning for students of all ages. MB's long-term goal – and one of the key fundraising priorities of MB Believes: A Campaign for Learning, People, and Place is to make such travel accessible to all students, regardless of their financial circumstances. We’re proud of the progress we’re making toward this objective, with more than $55,000 in financial support available to students for 2016-17 MB TRIPs opportunities (more than double what we were able to offer just last year).
As we continue to grow our funding, the school has adopted the following policy for allocating Financial Aid for TRIPs.
The first priority is to meet the demonstrated need of students receiving regular Financial Aid for enrollment. MB's goal — subject to availability of resources — is to match a family’s current Aid award in terms of percentage of total cost. For example, if a family pays 40% of tuition for enrollment, they may be asked to pay 40% of a trip’s cost. MB understands that each family’s circumstances are different, and thus each request will be handled on a case by case basis. Within this group, priority will go to those students who have not already been on a trip. Aid awards are determined November 21, 2016.
MB also encourages families who do not currently receive tuition Financial Aid to also apply for TRIPs support, as the school understands the financial pressures that all families face in providing an MB education for their children. Each family is asked to complete a TRIPs Financial Aid Form providing us with basic financial information — available here
— and return it to MB’s Director of Admissions, Hugh Madden, by November 4, 2016. Awards will be prioritized based on demonstrated financial need and are subject to availability of funds. Aid awards are determined November 21, 2016 by committee, and all information is kept strictly confidential (only the Director of Finance and Operations and the Director of Admission and Financial Aid will have access to financial information provided).
When will the cost of each trip be finalized?
The approximate costs are posted, and the final costs for each trip will be determined before final payment is due. Contact trip leaders for more information.

Do Moses Brown School sponsored service learning trips satisfy the service graduation requirement?
Yes, every Moses Brown sponsored service trip fulfills the MB service graduation requirement. However, not all MB TRIPs have a service component. The following are approved service learning TRIPs for 2017: Dominican Republic Medical Service Trip; Providence Service Learning Retreat; Yellowstone National Park trip; and Kenya Service Leadership & Safari trip.
Are there forms that must be completed in order for my child to participate in a Moses Brown School sponsored trip?
Yes, trip leaders will provide the necessary forms, including:
- MB Waiver (domestic or international)
- Outside agency (i.e. rafting company, EF Tours, AMC)
Do I need to fill out a separate medical form?
- School Nurse Betsy Sherry reviews all trip participant list, and all medical forms must be up-to-date and accurate. Medical and health information (allergies, medication, etc.) will be shared with trip leaders prior to departure.
