Start of school welcome

We hope you had a wonderful and restful summer. With the school year just about to begin we share this greeting from Head of School Matt Glendinning:

“School starts soon, and I’m really looking forward to welcoming you all back to campus. There’s been such a great sense of  joy here over the past few months with our summer camps taking place, and such excitement as the Lower School renovation project began in June.  And I know that the joy and excitement will go through the roof when all students, faculty and staff return for the first day of school on September 1.

Sure, we’ll be wearing masks indoors for a little while longer, but we’ll get to see each other’s smiles outside, and — most important — we will be together.

That’s so important. Being together for in-person learning and community gathering is critical for all of us, for the forging of strong friendships, for our practice of Friends education. And, of course — it’s just more fun.

Being together and building community will be important themes at MB this year.  And so, as you prepare for the start of school, I have a question for all of you: How will you contribute to that feeling of togetherness this year? What can you do to make sure that those around you feel welcome, known and connected?

We’ll talk more about this when you’re back on campus, and if you have a great idea, I’d love to hear from you. Maybe we could get together for a snack in Woodman Cafe, which will be open once again. In the meantime, enjoy these last few days of summer. I can’t wait to be together again.”
