1st Grade

STEM

First graders at Moses Brown have technology class once a week.  Students use iPads and enrichment apps to support work they are doing in reading and math, while developing fluency in the iOS environment.

Apps like Futaba, Bluster, Word Bingo, and Teach Me 1st Grade all reinforce reading and language arts lessons, and iTooch apps provide comprehensive learning solutions in math and language arts which help parents, teachers and students to identify and address learning needs in a fun and motivating way with 18,000 games and exercises.

We also introduce students to programming with Daisy the Dino, Lightbot Jr., The Foos, and Bee-Bot.  We get additional coding practice with The Hour of Code, a global movement that introduces students to computer programming and helps nurture creativity and problem solving skills.

Our 5,000-square-foot YLab is a maker space open to everyone in the Moses Brown community, and serves as a home for tinkerers, inventors, and entrepreneurs of any age.
