4th Grade

Physical Education

People have known for millennia that a healthy body makes a healthy mind, and academic research has made this link clearer.  Exercise dramatically boosts cognitive ability, attentional control, and executive functions.

Fourth grade Physical Education/Wellness focuses on social skills as well as listening to and following directions. The classes in fourth grade stress teamwork and introduce competitive games with an emphasis on sportsmanship.  The students increase their agility and endurance through the various high-energy games and activities, and improve their own “physical best” throughout the year in activities like Long Ball, Mat Ball, Run the Gauntlet, Touchdown, Five Bean Bags, Frogs in the Bucket, Gotcha and many more.
