Kindergarteners visit Moses Brown’s lower school library every week. In addition to learning how to use the library, choose, and care for books, and treat this shared resource responsibly, they get a steady stream of fun, engaging stories.
Through picture books and read-alouds, our lower school librarian introduces children to a wide variety of authors and genres, including folk tales, riddles, nonfiction, and poetry. In the spring, visiting authors come to class to talk about the process of writing, illustrating, and publishing books, giving children firsthand role models to inspire them.
Naturally, the library staff also helps students select books to support the growth and enjoyment of their reading, fostering a love of literature for scholarship and pleasure.Inquire
