Pre-Primary

STEM

STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) studies are a natural fit for Pre-primary students.  Their innate curiosity about how the world around them works drives them to try, tinker, and experiment in ways that–properly nurtured–thrive into adulthood, turning students into inventors and entrepreneurs.

By attending weekly classes with the Lower School Technology teacher, Pre-primary students learn about sequential instructions (coding) with Code-A-Pillar, how circuits work, and explore technology in age-appropriate TinkerTrays.

Of course, there is plenty of time to play with blocks in our multi-level indoor play space, as well as guided lessons about castles and bridges.  Children also explore how light interacts with various objects, learning about opacity and translucence (and trying some very big words out on their parents).  At every step, they’re playing and exploring and learning a little bit more about the natural forces that shape our world.
