Student Support

At Moses Brown, we celebrate each student’s unique strengths and passions, and recognize that all students will face challenges, and that some may require personalized support to reach their full potential.

The middle school schedule is designed to provide opportunities for individual and small group work with advisors and teachers. Our team structure supports a comprehensive and collaborative approach to supporting students with different learning styles and those who need additional support. Every student receives extensive coaching on executive function, time management, and study skills.  They learn to organize, plan, and prioritize to juggle deadlines and competing schedules.  Students who need extra help developing these skills can take an additional small-group class for further support.

Middle schoolers also have access to the learning center in Walter Jones library, where extra support in  academic disciplines is available on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.

Dr. Jessica Stewart is Moses Brown’s full-time psychologist for grades 7-12 and provides counseling for social-emotional challenges, support for students with academic challenges, and professional evaluation for testing and intervention of diagnosed differences.  As a resource for both parents and children, she is a helpful guide to make sure your child’s strengths and weaknesses are thoughtfully taken care of.

Whether recommending extended time on assessments, strategies for note-taking, or technological supports, we know that every child’s circumstances and needs are unique.
